Getting Ready - 90 Days Out

Pattie and I continue to prepare for our new lifestyle and are overwhelmed by the tasks that must be completed to make it happen.  We plan to put the house on the market in March 2015 when it warms up enough to open the pool.  Ahhh the pool, the two acres to mow, the hedges to trim, how I will not miss the maintenance, but I digress.  Our plan is to establish our legal residence in Alabama where we own some property.  I will continue to work and have received approval to relocate to the Huntsville, AL office.  I have a trade show to attend in Atlanta the first week in May, so we figure we will vacate the house leaving it staged with the relator if it hasn’t sold by then.

Here is what we are working on 90 days out from departing Maryland:
1. Sorting stuff into groups of:
         a. Storage
         b. Give Away
         c. Trash
         d. Take in RV
         e. Sell
2. Packing items for storage
3. Posting items for sale on WWW
3. Preparing the house for sale all the way to staging rooms
4. Loading RV items and organizing RV compartments
5. Moving items to storage in Alabama

The Bus is winterized in the driveway and I start it once a week to keep it lubricated and have a bucket of DampRid in it to keep humidity down.  I am negotiating with a shop on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to install an M&G Engineering brake system in the Jeep we will tow and that will require a day trip in The Bus to tap into its air brake system.  That may be our next opportunity to drive it.

Welcome

Welcome to David and Pattie's first blog posting!  We have decided to start a blog to let friends and family keep up with our adventures as we travel across America in our RV.  We are both US Citizens who grew up in Alabama and Georgia and met while attending Auburn University in the mid-1980's.  In 2015, we will celebrate 28 years of Christian marriage and have two sons currently attending Auburn University in Alabama.

We are preparing to launch our adventure sometime in the Spring/Summer of 2015.  The timing depends on the sale of our house in Maryland.  For now, we are preparing our RV for full-time living and the house for sale.  The RV is a 2007 Allegro Bus (40 QSP) that we purchased used in 2014.  We have yet to come up with a good name for it, so for now we will just refer to it as "The Bus."

I hope you enjoy following along as we begin this new adventure.
